We are the Frias Family!!
Two parents, two kids, and two dogs who set off on a journey to LIVE through this beautiful world!
Our expedition started off in early 2016, when we sold most of our belongings and traded in our traditional life for a more radical version. We moved to the tiny South American country of Ecuador.
After living as expats for 1 year, we realized that we were still seeking something more. Our life abroad opened our eyes and ignited our wanderlust. In 2017, we packed up our life again to move into a modified, vintage 1982 Landcruiser FJ60.
Now, we are full time nomads slowly and purposefully exploring the world. First step: DRIVE the entire continent of South America! We live on the road as overlanders in our own version of #vanlife as a family.
As of February 2018, we have traveled in our car for 7 months in Ecuador and 2.5 months in Peru. This year we expect to see more of Peru, Bolivia, Argentina, and Chile.
We have two kids, a daughter age 5, and boy, age 4. One of our dogs, Joey passed away at the end of 2017, at almost 13 years old. Our other mutt, Dante, passed away in February 2018. He left us with a devastating death after being bitten by a viper (venomous snake) during our exit from Machu Picchu.
As for the parents, we are Stephanie and Carlos! Stephanie is the writer and was born and raised in rural Iowa, United States. Carlos was born and raised in Quito, Ecuador and lived in the United States for 28 years! We have now been together for 7 years and every second has been a new adventure.
Welcome to our Journey!
