A few months ago, our family made the decision to move our lives to Ecuador. Everything we own and wish to take must fit into 8 duffel bags. 2 bags per person, 50 pounds per bag.
Our family includes myself Stephanie (age 32), my husband Carlos (age 44), “Peanut (daughter: age 3), “Monkey” (son: age 20 months) and our two 60 pound dogs, Joey and Dante.
Our flight leaves for Quito from Chicago on February 25th, 2016.
5 weeks, 3 days until we depart!
All the little details are coming together. 2 weeks ago we applied for passports for the kids. Yesterday we bought the dog kennels 😀 And therefore finalized the agonizing debate over whether we could/should bring the dogs on our big move. So, it is official now… they are going, too!
In a few days, we are off to the Ecuadorian Consulate in Chicago to finalize travel documents for my husband.
Currently, our daily life consists of selling, selling, selling. .. and selling some more of the entire contents of our home & life. Except, for what fits in our 8 duffel bags of course. Some days, we have as many as 4 or 5 “visitors” coming into our home to collect items they have purchased. It feels sorta like we live in a perpetual Flea Market.
In the meantime, we continue to sort through closets and cabinets in an attempt to organize for our oversized garage sale (Estate Sale) that is scheduled for January 31st, 2 weekends away!
